The 2019 GEOSUMMIT was successfully held in Hiroshima and Fukuoka, Japan, from 13 to 17 May 2019. World-leading practitioners and researchers on debris flow-structure interaction gathered to share their ideas with each other. I would like to thank GEOBRUGG for inviting me to deliver a keynote. The summit allowed us to visit flexible barrier installations in Hiroshima and Fukuoka.
